My 10 yr. old is wanting a pet lizard-what would be a good choice?

My 10 yr. old daughter is wanting to get a pet lizard. I would like for her to experience this but I want to make sure that I get one that is a good choice for someone that is a beginner. I know that some lizards get very big while others stay small and some need alot of maintenance to maintain good health like misting, and so on. Can any suggest a good starter for my daughter, I will be helping to help her learn about her pet and how to take care of it correctly. I was reading about a skink, would this be a good choice? Help with making a good choice and please add info on what all that your suggestion would need to be cared for such as size of tank, food, behavior, handling and so on or at least a good link for me to use for a resource.

Why do people get pets that they don’t know how to care for?

I’m shocked at how many people are on this forum asking basic questions about their pet’s health, feeding and maintenance. Why don’t people take the time and effort to learn about an animal before making the commitment to own a pet? And if your pet is bleeding or in pain right now – call a vet, please!
